Preparation of novel cosmetic white pigment by pyrophosphate treatment of zinc oxide

Zinc oxide, which has photocatalytic activity, is used as a white pigment in cosmetics. With cosmetics containing zinc some sebum on the skin broken down by UV rays of sun. In this study, order to suppress activity oxide was added an aqueous solution sodium pyrophosphate and shaken, so that novel coated with phosphate having no prepared for use The chemical composition, powder properties, hue (visible light reflectance L* a* b* values), smoothness resulting material were studied. Part reacted treatment. suppressed coating. sample had sufficiently high visible region value L*a*b* color space. treated samples lower static friction resistance than original oxide. Judging from results value, smoothness, optimum conditions molar ratio P/Zn 1/4 6 h shaking mixture.
